This section is a day-by-day log of my building for the first few
months.  People interested in building may find this of some interest.
I didn't have the patience to keep this up to date (since I write my
real log by hand out in the shop) and I doubt anyone reads past the
first few lines anyway!


June  1, 1996    Second flight in an RV-6 with Danny Parker, Livermore, CA.
June  3, 1996    Ordered RV-6/6A tailkit, electric flap option, light option
                 Ordered Avery's "Tailkit" toolkit and hand squeezer.
June  7, 1996    Tailkit arrives on doorstep!
June  9, 1996    Built jig out of redwood 4x4's and a borrowed digital level
June 17, 1996    Still waiting for critical tools from Avery's like squeezer!
                 Stiffeners and brackets attached to rear spar, ready to prime
June 19, 1996    Primed all brackets, spars, and stiffeners with veriprime after alumaprep
                 Riveted stiffeners and brackets to spar.  Love the pnuematic squeezer!!!!
June 30, 1996    Finished preparing 614 and 610, prepped, primed, and riveted forward spar
                 Also finished practice control surface from Orndorff.  Plans are really weak.
July  7, 1996    Drilled and riveted ribs to rear spar
July  8, 1996    Set rear spar in jig on brackets, drew center lines on ribs, set forward spar on
                 ribs. Forward spar is a little too high, will have to adjust ribs.
July 23, 1996    Ordered Quickbuild RV-6A without empennage.  Got sliding canopy and electric
                 flaps, filtered airbox, recessed firewall option.
July 24, 1996    Received letter from FAA - N727MF has been reserved!
July 25, 1996    Ribs and forward spar drilled and rivetted, skins on and drilled, some deburring
                 and dimpling finished.  Cut stips of plastic off rivet lines on skins with
                 soldering iron
July 27, 1996    B-Day!  Rivet VS rear spar after priming pieces and HS skins
July 28, 1996    Skinned left side of HS
Aug   1, 1996    Skinned right side of HS, removed from jig!
Aug  16, 1996    Picked up RV-6A quickbuild kit from Van's!  1.3 hours dual with Mike Seagar
                 Drove back in 14 hours (Portland, OR -> San Jose, CA) with Ed Cole.  Also
                 brought back RV-8 tailkit for Eric Barnes.  Ailerons and flaps are beautiful.
Aug  24, 1996    Prepared ribs on rear VS spar, deburred, prepped and primed.  Riveted on rear spar.
                 Prepared forward spar and top rib, primed.
Aug  25, 1996    Riveted rest of VS skeleton, jigged up, and drilled skins on skeleton, removed.
Sep   5, 1996    Skinned VS, made stiffeners and drilled rudder skin, primed, backriveted stiffeners
                 onto rudder skin
Sep  19, 1996    Rudder is almost finished now.  All that's left is buying some RTV for the stiffener
                 ends where they meet, and it's rivet city.
Sep  29, 1996 Rudder completed, right elevator completed, leading edge bends put into elevator
                 and rudder
Nov   5, 1996    Left elevator almost finished, trim tab almost finished, ready for final fit and rivet
                 Baggage compartment floor skins in, and all four main compartment floor skins drilled.
                 Passenger seat almost finished and ready to drill to floor pans.
